2018 BYD Tang – a new great Chinese SUV (part 2)

The second generation BID Tang crossover is equipped with a hybrid power plant, borrowed from its predecessor. The 505-hp power plant includes a 2.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine with 205-hp and 320 Nm output, two electric motors (150-hp and 200 Nm) and a 6-speed robotic DCT. The package also includes four-wheel drive, as well as 18 kW/h rechargeable batteries, which can overcome up to 85 km in electric mode. This technical arsenal gives the car excellent dynamic characteristics; the crossover accelerates in 4.5 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h.

In the future, the Chinese manufacturer plans to offer the drivers more affordable BYD Tang supplied by front-wheel drive, 2.0 Turbo petrol engine (205-hp, 320 Nm) paired with a 6DCT robot, as well as an electric version of the crossover.

BYD Company has not disclosed the interior of the new crossover with three rows of seats. It is supposed that as the BYD Dynasty prototype and BYD Song Max minivan, the SUV’s cabin will get a digital instrument panel, huge color screen of an advanced multimedia system, a multifunction steering wheel with touchpads, front seats with electric adjustment, heating and massage function, second row seats with longitudinal adjustment and heating, three-zone climate control, a system of circular vision, panoramic glass roof, leather trim, etc.
