BAIC BJ80 that is considered as a Chinese Gelendvagen that is already launched since last year. Especially for Shanghai Motor Show the carmakers modified the model and added a hybrid power plant. And this means that if you want to buy a hybrid or electric Gelendvagen, go to China. Mercedes brand has not got such version in their line-up. It also should be noticed that the proposed model is not considered as a Chinese clone, because it is produced in conjunction with Daimler and Beijing Auto at Beijing-Benz plant.

The Chinese Gelendvagen with a hybrid plant was named as BJ80 PHEV and, according to the manufacturer, is a rechargeable hybrid modification. The technical characteristics of plug-in BJ80 are not disclosed. The model equipped by a standard fuel unit is available with a 2.3T petrol engine (250 hp) and a 2.8 turbo diesel motor with a capacity of 163 horses. The drive system is four-wheel. The transmission is 6-step automatic or mechanic.

On the Chinese market the price for the basic BAIC BJ80 is equal to 42 thousand dollars, while a hybrid SUV, according to preliminary information, will make around 55-60 thousand dollars.
