Chinese automaker Anhui Ankai Automobile shipped 100 buses on Monday from the province’s capital city of Hefei to Saudi Arabia.

The deal was contracted in March, a special period when the global export business has been hampered amid the COVID-19 pandemic, and the buses will be delivered in batches.

“China’s bus brand advantages featuring rich varieties, fast delivery and good service have been carried to their extremes by Ankai. Our buses have won good reputation in Saudi Arabia, and thus earned us this big deal at this special period,” said Zhang Huiyong, general manager of the Middle East region with Anhui Ankai Automobile.

The company has taken the hot weather of Saudi Arabia into consideration and equipped the buses with high-power air conditioners.

“Because this batch of buses are used in a special atmosphere and condition with large passenger capacity, we have improved its reliability, power and air conditioning,” said Wang Zeping, head of the bus body office of Ankai’s technology center.

Ankai entered Saudi Arabia in 2007 and has exported over 10,000 buses for sightseeing, school and commuter use to the country so far.

The Chinese automaker has established a global sales network with buses exported to nearly 100 countries and regions such as Britain, France, Italy, Russia, Kazakhstan, Myanmar, Saudi Arabia, New Zealand, South Korea and the Americas.
