12. My UFO story: It was 1954 and I was a normal eight year old boy. We lived on a farm in the Ohio countryside, about 50 miles east of Columbus. It was a sunny, beautiful afternoon summer day, not a cloud in the sky. I was standing on the neighbor’s porch and suddenly heard a loud roaring noise.

    At first, I thought it may be thunder from an approaching storm. I looked up at the sky and saw no storm clouds, no clouds at all. It was a beautiful, clear, sunny day. Then I saw a UFO in the northern sky at about 11 o’clock high. At about 10,000 ft. there appeared a large cigar shaped UFO hovering in the horizontal position. It was making the loud noise. It was not moving at all, just hovering. It was about 200 ft. long. It had colorful markings down the side. There appeared to be a front and rear to the ship. I remember seeing something like windows down the side. It had no wings or tail. It was definitely not a commercial aircraft. No commercial aircraft had jet engines back then, only large wings with propeller engines, they don’t hover. In 1954 the US military had just starting using jet engines in their Korean War fighter jets.

    After a few minutes of hovering, it slowly turned to the east. Then it suddenly accelerated very fast to the east and quickly disappeared about five miles to the eastern horizon. When you see something like that, you never forget it. I sure would like to know what that UFO was.
